Sifu Ash McKenzie
Head Coach & Director of Operations
Sifu (Master) Ash McKenzie began his martial arts training in Sanshou (Chinese kickboxing) when he was 10 years old and has been training in the martial arts for over 25 years. He is a master in both traditional and contemporary wushu (kung fu) and well as dragon and lion dance. As a youth, he was very active in the tournament circuits, competing at the provincial and national level. He is currently the head coach for Canada’s national dragon and lion team. Sifu Ash has a teaching background in recreation therapy and teaching individuals living with developmental disabilities. In additional, Sifu Ash hold a 3rd Duan certification by the Chinese Health Qigong Association. Master’s Level in wushu and dragon and lion dance.
Sihing Roy Truong
Martial Arts & Lion Dance Coach
Sihing (Senior Student) Roy Truong has been training in martial arts and Chinese lion dance since the age of 8. He is currently one of Canada’s highest ranked lion dancers. In 2017 he place 1st in speed racing against China at the International Dragon and Lion Championships in Shanghai. Roy has trained with martial arts masters in Toronto and Shandong, China and holds the rank of 1st degree black belt in modern Wushu and traditional Kung Fu. He’s specialties are: Changquan 长拳 (Long Fist), Shaolinquan 少林拳 (Shaolin Fist), Jianshu 剑术 (Straight Sword), and Gunshu 棍术 (Staff). Roy teaches the martial arts fundamental classes as well as the dragon and lion classes.
Sihing Jason Ryder
Lion Dance Coach
Sihing (Senior Student) Jason Ryder started his martial arts training in the art of Japanese Jiu Jitsu and kick boxing at the age of 11. Since then, he has studied Chinese Kung Fu in Toronto, Shandong and Foshan 佛山, the home of lion dance. Jason has been a member of Canada’s lion and dragon dance team since 2013. In 2017 he place 1st in speed racing against many Asian countries at the International Dragon and Lion Championships in Shanghai with his teammate Roy. Jason holds a 1st Duan in qiong and has a certification by the Chinese Health Qigong Association. Look for Jason in our Toronto lion dance classes as he encourages the next generation of Canadian athletes.
Kevin Truong
Senior Wushu and Lion Dance Member
Sihing (Senior Student) Kevin Truong began his martial arts and lion dance training at Wushu Project at the age of 10. Early on, he participated in many wushu tournaments and has had exceptional results in many of them. Kevin specializes in Changquan 长拳 (Long Fist), Gunshu 棍术 (Staff), and Daoshu 刀术 (Broadsword). Kevin is also one of our main lion dance athletes. In 2017, he led Canada’s dragon dance team to a 3rd place finish at the International Dragon and Lion Championships in Shanghai. Kevin is consistently looking to improve Canada’s lion and dragon dance team for better international results.
Kavin Ketheeswaran
Senoir Lion Dance Member & Wu3Fit Coach
All throughout his life, Kavin has had a strong passion for physical activity and sport. Kavin has been a member of the Canadian lion dance team since 2013 and has won numerous titles and championships. Kavin leads our Wu3Fit fitness program that helps build our athletes for world competitions and our members that are looking to get in shape and live a more health lifestyle. He plays an integral part in building our social media presence and continues to network with our industry friends and colleagues.
